I was pleasantly surprised by how solid this vintage 400mm f/6.3 feels in hand—the all-metal build gives it a reassuring weight. The focus ring is smooth and precise, making manual focusing a real pleasure for my bird photography sessions. Definitely a fun addition to my collection for the price.

The 400mm f/6.3 aperture is surprisingly manageable for a vintage piece, and the Pluracoat does cut glare nicely on overcast shots. I’ve had it on a monopod for a few hours and the weight feels balanced, not front-heavy like I feared.

The Pluracoat coating on this 400mm f/6.3 is a nice touch for reducing flare on sunny days. It's heavy but feels solidly built, and the manual focus ring is smooth for its age. Only wish it came with a tripod collar included.
