Category: Mirrorless Lenses

The RF 50mm f/1.4 L VCM is a normal-length prime for full-frame RF-mount
bodies, built for both stills and video. The f/1.4 aperture and 11-blade
diaphragm give shallow depth of field and smooth background rendering, and a
Voice Coil Motor rear focus group with Nano USM keeps autofocus precise and
near-silent.

Optics

14 elements in 11 groups, including one ultra-low dispersion element and two

reduce ghosting and flare, and a fluorine coating protects the front element.

Madison V. ★★★★★

Switching from a zoom to this prime was a revelation—the f/1.4 aperture lets in so much light that I'm shooting handheld indoors with no issue. That 11-blade diaphragm creates a really smooth, natural background blur that makes portraits pop.

Nicholas ★★★★★

I’ve been using this lens for hybrid shoots—the VCM motor makes autofocus transitions in video practically silent, which is a game-changer for run-and-gun work. It’s sharp wide open, and the shallow depth of field at f/1.4 is exactly what I needed for portraits.

Michael ★★★★★

The 11-blade aperture really delivers on those dreamy, smooth backgrounds I was hoping for. It's a joy to use for both quick portraits and handheld video work.
