The RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM is Canon’s shortest and lightest 70-200mm f/4 to
date, using the RF mount’s large diameter and short back focus distance to keep
the lens compact enough to carry all day. Four UD elements correct chromatic
aberration and keep colour rendition clean, and Air Sphere Coating reduces
ghosting.

Optical Image Stabilization works on its own or coordinates with In-Body Image
Stabilization on compatible bodies. Dual Nano USM motors deliver a short minimum
focusing distance and high-speed autofocus for stills, switching to near-silent,
smooth focusing for video. Dust- and weather-resistant seals and a fluorine
coating suit it to poor conditions.

The f/4 aperture keeps this surprisingly compact, so it slides into my bag without the usual bulk of a 70-200mm. The autofocus is snappy and silent, and the image stabilization makes handheld shots at the long end feel rock solid. I’m genuinely impressed by how light it is for this range.

I’ve been lugging this around for a weekend of hiking and shooting, and it’s genuinely the lightest 70-200mm I’ve ever carried—the compact build from that short back focus design makes a real difference in a sling bag. The f/4 aperture is plenty for daylight, and the image stabilization keeps handhe
