Category: Mirrorless Lenses
The FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS is the longest-reaching zoom Sony has made for
E-mount, and the first to reach 800mm. Fitted with the 1.4x or 2x teleconverter it
extends to 1120mm or 1600mm, which puts birding and distant wildlife in range at a
working distance that doesn’t disturb the subject. It weighs 5.45 lb (2.47 kg) and
zooms internally, so the balance stays constant and the barrel doesn’t extend.
Focus and stabilization
- Dual linear motors for fast, precise autofocus and subject tracking.
- Optical SteadyShot with three selectable modes.
- Focus limiter and three customizable focus hold buttons.
- Short rotational zoom throw for quick focal length changes.
Handling
- Fixed, rotating tripod foot.
- Barrel switches for AF/MF, OSS mode and focus limiting.
- Accepts screw-in front filters.
As a G Series lens it sits below the GM range on price while holding to the
G Series optical standard.
