Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G Lens
Expressive Full-Frame Fisheye Zoom for Sony E-Mount – Full 180° Angle of View (Transitions from 8mm Circular Fisheye to 14mm Diagonal Fisheye), Constant f/3.5 Maximum Aperture, Dual Linear Motor AF System with Suppressed Focus Breathing, Advanced Optical Construction (3 Aspherical, 4 ED & 1 ED Aspherical Elements), Close-Up 5.9″ Minimum Focusing Distance (0.22x Magnification), Internal Zoom Mechanism, Independent Focus, Zoom & Click/De-Clickable Aperture Rings, AF/MF/FH (Focus Hold) Switch, Rear Sheet Filter Holder, Dust- and Moisture-Resistant Build with Fluorine Front Coating, Ultracompact 11.1 oz Form Factor for Handheld, Gimbal & VR/3D Workflows

The Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G is a specialized, creative ultra-wide zoom lens engineered for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, delivering a comprehensive 180° angle of view across its entire focal span. Offering a versatile optical transition on full-frame bodies, the lens captures an expansive circular fisheye image with complete black borders at 8mm, smoothly zooming to a full-frame diagonal fisheye at 14mm that fills the rectangular frame with distinctive curvilinear distortion. Tailored for extreme sports cinematography, immersive 360/VR content creation, architectural exaggeration, dynamic music videos, and wide astrophotography, it combines consistent exposure handling via a constant f/3.5 maximum aperture with an internal zoom design that preserves center-of-gravity balance on gimbals and dual-camera rigs.

The sophisticated optical formula consists of 16 elements in 13 groups, incorporating three aspherical elements, four Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements, and one ED aspherical element to correct severe chromatic fringing, coma, and distortion while resolving fine details across the sensor. A protective fluorine coating on the bulbous front element repels water, fingerprints, and oils. Autofocus is driven by two high-speed linear motors that deliver rapid, whisper-quiet, and accurate focus tracking with minimized focus breathing, complemented by Linear Response manual focus for repeatable, cine-style manual focus pulls. For high-impact perspectives, the optic focuses down to just 5.9 inches (15 cm) with a 0.22x maximum magnification ratio. Professional physical controls include independent barrel rings for zoom, focus, and aperture (complete with a click/de-click switch for smooth video iris control), an AF/MF/FH (Focus Hold) toggle, a zoom lock switch, and an integrated rear drop-in sheet filter holder.

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

Expressive Circular-to-Diagonal Fisheye Zoom: Transitions seamlessly from a full 180° circular fisheye at 8mm to a frame-filling diagonal fisheye at 14mm on full-frame sensors.

Constant f/3.5 Maximum Aperture: Keeps exposure settings uniform throughout the zoom span for predictable handheld shooting and video recording.

Dual Linear Motor AF System: Delivers rapid, precise, and virtually silent autofocus with suppressed focus breathing for video production.

Advanced Optical Architecture: Features 3 aspherical, 4 ED, and 1 ED aspherical elements to control chromatic aberrations and optimize resolution across the frame.

Close-Focus Macro Capabilities: Achieves a 5.9-inch (15 cm) minimum focus distance and 0.22x magnification for distorted, close-up subject isolation.

Internal Zoom Engineering: Internal barrel movement maintains the physical length and balance of the lens for handheld, gimbal, and dual-camera 3D/VR rigs.

Full Manual Barrel Control: Equipped with three independent rings for focus, zoom, and aperture, featuring a click/de-click toggle for stills or video work.

AF/MF/FH Multi-Switch: Incorporates an integrated Focus Hold (FH) switch setting to lock focal distance during astrophotography and VR timelapse shoots.

Rear Sheet Filter Holder: Accommodates rear gelatin/sheet filters directly behind the optical path, bypassing front filter mounting limitations.

Ultracompact & Lightweight Build: Measures just 2.5 x 3.3 inches and weighs only 11.1 oz (315 g) with extensive dust- and moisture-resistant sealing.

Emma P. ★★★★★

The 180-degree field of view at 8mm makes this lens a blast for creative landscapes, and zooming to 14mm gives you a more usable diagonal fisheye without swapping glass. It handled a late afternoon shoot with surprising sharpness across the frame.

Elizabeth S. ★★★★★

I’ve been shooting real estate interiors all week and the jump between the full 180° at 8mm and the tighter diagonal view at 14mm is surprisingly handy for framing doorways without distortion. The constant f/3.5 kept exposures steady as I zoomed, which saved me a ton of fiddling in post.

Claire P. ★★★★★

The circular fisheye effect at 8mm is wild for creative shots, and the constant f/3.5 aperture keeps exposures consistent as I zoom. I’ve been experimenting with that 180° field of view indoors and it’s a blast.
