Chinon S-250 Flash

The Chinon S-250 is a basic hot-shoe mounted electronic flash unit designed for compatible Chinon 35mm film cameras, offering straightforward on-camera fill and low-light flash capability for general everyday shooting. Flash units like the S-250 were commonly sold alongside Chinon’s film SLR bodies as an affordable accessory for photographers who needed supplemental light beyond what their camera’s built-in capabilities offered.

As a companion flash to Chinon’s camera lineup, the S-250 is designed for straightforward operation, mounting directly to a compatible hot shoe and firing in sync with the camera’s shutter. Flash units of this class and era typically offer either fully manual output or basic automatic exposure control through a simple sensor on the flash body, and generally include a guide number suited to typical on-camera fill and general-purpose flash photography rather than the higher output or advanced features found in professional flash systems.

Because documentation on the exact specifications of the Chinon S-250, such as guide number, power output, recycle time, and compatible camera models, is limited and inconsistent across sources, I’d recommend confirming these specific details directly against the unit or its original manual before finalizing a listing, rather than relying on general assumptions about flash units from this era.
