FUJIFILM INSTAX MINI 9 Instant Film Camera (Ice Blue)

The FUJIFILM instax mini 9 is an entry-level instant film camera designed for casual photographers and younger users who want a fun, easy-to-use way to produce credit-card-sized instant prints. It builds on the popular instax mini 8, retaining that camera’s straightforward operation and attractive design while adding a few new features and color options.

Optically, the camera uses a simple 2-component, 2-element lens with a focal length of 60mm and an f/12.7 aperture, paired with a fixed shutter speed of 1/60 second. Focusing is fixed, covering a range from 0.6m to infinity, and the camera uses a real-image optical viewfinder with a target spot and 0.37x magnification. A key feature of the Mini 9 is automatic brightness measurement: the camera reads the ambient light and signals the recommended exposure setting via a flashing LED, which the user then matches by turning a manual brightness adjustment dial.

The Mini 9 shoots on Fujifilm’s instax mini instant film, producing prints measuring 62x46mm (roughly the size of a credit card), with each cartridge holding 10 exposures. A built-in flash fires automatically with every shot, since the exposure system is designed around flash use, and the camera includes a selfie mirror positioned next to the lens to help users frame self-portraits. An included close-up lens adapter enables close-focus shooting from as near as 35-50cm, useful for macro-style shots. A High-Key mode, accessible via the brightness dial, allows for brighter, softer-toned images.

Build quality reflects the camera’s fun, toy-like design philosophy, with a compact plastic body measuring approximately 116 x 118 x 68mm and weighing about 307g without film or batteries. The camera is powered by two AA-size 1.5V alkaline batteries, rated for approximately 100 shots (about 10 film packs) per set of batteries, and is available in several colors including Flamingo Pink, Ice Blue, Lime Green, Cobalt Blue, and Smokey White.
