Manfrotto 3265 Grip Action Tripod Head
The Manfrotto 3265 (also known as the 222 Grip Action Head) is a legendary piece of support gear designed for photographers who need speed, versatility, and one-handed operation. Built for the fast-paced world of sports, birding, and event photography, this “joystick” style head allows you to position your camera with incredible fluidity. Simply squeeze the trigger to move the camera in any direction and release it to lock it firmly in place.

Instinctive Joystick Control
One-Handed Operation: By integrating the locking mechanism into the handle, the 3265 allows you to keep one hand on the camera and the other on the grip. Squeezing the trigger releases the friction lock, allowing for 360° panning and +90°/-90° lateral tilt.

Tension Adjustment: A convenient thumbwheel allows you to adjust the friction of the ball to match the weight of your specific camera and lens setup. This ensures smooth movement without the risk of the camera “flopping” when the trigger is pulled.

Portrait Orientation: The head features a dedicated notch that allows the camera to be flipped a full 90 degrees for vertical compositions in an instant.

Professional Build Quality
Durable Cast Aluminum: Constructed from heavy-duty aluminum, the 3265 is designed to withstand the rigors of professional field use while providing a stable platform for DSLRs and smaller medium-format systems.

Integrated Spirit Level: A built-in bubble level helps you quickly find the horizon, ensuring your shots are straight even when working on uneven terrain.

Standard Tripod Mounting: Features a 3/8″-16 female thread on the bottom, making it compatible with almost all professional tripod legs and monopods.

Versatility in the Field
Speed: Ideal for tracking moving subjects or quickly changing compositions during a wedding or event.

Ergonomics: The vertical orientation of the grip is designed to reduce wrist strain compared to traditional pan-and-tilt heads.

Compact Storage: Its upright design takes up less horizontal space in a gear bag than traditional 3-way heads with long handles.

Nicholas ★★★★★

This is my second one of these grip heads, and the ball joint still locks up rock-solid for vertical shots. The friction knob being loose doesn't bother me since I rely on the grip trigger for quick adjustments anyway.

Ruby X. ★★★★★

Even though the description mentioned a sticky friction knob, mine actually works fine for quick adjustments in the field. The grip action mechanism lets me frame wildlife shots without taking my eye off the viewfinder.

David J. ★★★★★

The grip action mechanism is so intuitive that I’m already framing shots quicker than with any ball head I’ve used. Yes, the tension knob is stiff as noted, but for action sports it locks down exactly where I need it. A true workhorse.
