Photoolex FK300 Manual Camera Flash Speedlite

The Photoolex FK300 is an affordable, universal manual flash speedlite designed to work with a wide range of DSLR and digital cameras via a single-contact hot shoe, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Fujifilm, Pentax, Sigma, Minolta, and Leica cameras. It’s aimed at amateur and enthusiast photographers who want a versatile, budget-friendly external flash for events, portraits, and everyday shooting.

The flash offers a guide number of GN33 (35mm, ISO 100), providing reliable, powerful output equipped with premium flash tubes for a consistent 5600K±200K daylight color temperature. Since it operates in fully manual mode, exposure is adjusted directly on the flash across 8 steps of power output control, indicated by LED level lamps, letting photographers fine-tune brightness without relying on camera-based TTL metering.

Beyond standard manual triggering, the FK300 supports S1 and S2 wireless flash trigger modes, allowing it to function as an auxiliary flash that fires optically in sync with a camera’s built-in or main flash. In S1 mode, the flash fires whenever it detects any flash burst; in S2 mode, it fires only in response to the second flash pulse from a pre-flash-equipped main flash, avoiding accidental triggering during camera pre-flash metering. A test button allows firing a test flash at the current settings or waking the unit from its power-saving automatic shutdown/sleep mode.

Build quality includes a metal hot shoe foot for a secure connection to the camera, along with a recycle time of approximately 2.8 seconds, making it suitable for fast-paced shooting where multiple flashes in quick succession are needed. The flash runs on 4 AA batteries and includes an automatic settings-save function so power and mode selections persist between uses.

The flash package typically includes a protective pouch, a mini stand for off-camera or tabletop use, and color gel filters for adjusting the flash’s color output creatively.
