The Vivitar PN2011 is a lightweight, all-mechanical 35mm film camera designed as a simple, low-cost point-and-shoot, widely regarded today as a cult favorite among lo-fi and toy camera enthusiasts. It requires no batteries and is aimed at casual photographers who want a compact, no-fuss camera for everyday snapshots, travel, and experimental shooting.

Optically, the camera features a 28mm wide-angle fixed-focus lens with a fixed aperture of f/8 and a single fixed shutter speed of 1/125 second, covering a shooting range from approximately 1 meter to infinity. Because there are no exposure or focus adjustments to make, the PN2011 is best suited to daylight shooting with ISO 200 or 400 color film. A standout feature for such a simple camera is its switchable panoramic mode, which crops the 35mm frame to a wider 13x36mm panoramic aspect ratio via an in-camera masking system rather than a true swing-lens design, alongside the standard 24x36mm full frame.

As a fully mechanical camera, film is manually advanced and rewound, with no motorized components or electronics involved in operation. The built-in lens cover locks the shutter when closed, and the shutter locks again after each exposure until the film is manually advanced, helping prevent accidental double exposures. The camera includes a tripod socket and a reverse Galilean-type viewfinder for composing shots.

Build quality reflects the PN2011’s toy-camera positioning, with an entirely plastic body that keeps the camera extremely lightweight and pocketable, though this same lightweight construction means components like the film rewind mechanism can be prone to breaking if handled roughly. The camera was also sold under other brand names, including Supapix and Reader’s Digest, using the same core design.

Ella H. ★★★★★

Rolled the dice on an untested camera and it actually fired on the first roll. The all-mechanical shutter is simple enough that there's nothing to break, and it slipped right into my jacket pocket. Grainy shots, but that's the look I wanted.

Amelia ★★★★★

This little all-mechanical point-and-shoot is a steal even as-is — it's so light I carried it everywhere and the manual film advance feels satisfyingly sturdy. Worked perfectly on my first roll, no issues at all.

Michael C. ★★★★★

Even though it was sold as-is and completely untested, the all-mechanical build feels reassuringly solid in hand, and the lightweight body makes it perfect for tossing in a bag without a second thought. I loaded a roll of cheap film and everything—shutter, advance, rewind—works like a charm, so I'm
