The Z50 II is Nikon’s compact DX-format mirrorless body, pairing a 20.9MP
APS-C CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 7 processor from Nikon’s flagship models. That
processor is what lets the camera punch above its size: native ISO 100-51,200
expandable to 204,800, continuous shooting to 30 fps, and the autofocus system
below. It takes the full NIKKOR Z lens lineup.

Autofocus

Deep-learning subject detection recognizes nine subject types including people,
animals and vehicles, tracking them automatically. Eye-Detection AF handles eyes
specifically, and a dedicated Bird Detection mode covers avian subjects.
Pre-Release Capture records frames from the moment you half-press the shutter, up
to a second before you fully press it, so fast action isn’t lost to reaction
time.

A 24-75mm equivalent zoom for everyday shooting. Aspherical and extra-low
dispersion elements reduce aberrations, and Super Integrated Coating limits
ghosting and flare. Vibration Reduction provides 4.5 stops of stabilization, a
stepping motor keeps autofocus quiet, and a programmable control ring handles
aperture, exposure compensation or ISO. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm smooths
out-of-focus areas.

Included: NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR

A lightweight telephoto zoom covering a 75-375mm equivalent range, for distant
subjects and portraits. An extra-low dispersion element limits chromatic
aberration and Super Integrated Coating improves contrast. Vibration Reduction
provides up to 5 stops of stabilization, with a stepping motor for smooth, quiet
autofocus.

Adam ★★★★★

The EXPEED 7 processor is a game changer for autofocus—it locks onto birds in flight instantly, even in low light. Image quality from the 20.9MP sensor is sharp and clean, and the kit lenses cover everything from wide landscapes to decent zoom.

Owen T. ★★★★★

The dual lens kit covers everything from wide landscapes to distant wildlife, and switching between them is seamless. The 20.9MP sensor delivers sharp, vibrant images straight out of the camera, even in challenging light. Battery life has been solid for a full day of casual shooting.

Harper ★★★★★

The autofocus with the EXPEED 7 processor locks onto birds so fast I barely have to think, and having both lenses in the kit means I’ve got everything from wide landscapes to zoomed-in portraits covered.
