The Z50 II is Nikon’s compact DX-format mirrorless body, pairing a 20.9MP
APS-C CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 7 processor from Nikon’s flagship models. That
processor is what lets the camera punch above its size: native ISO 100-51,200
expandable to 204,800, continuous shooting to 30 fps, and the autofocus system
below. It takes the full NIKKOR Z lens lineup.

Autofocus

Deep-learning subject detection recognizes nine subject types including people,
animals and vehicles, tracking them automatically. Eye-Detection AF handles eyes
specifically, and a dedicated Bird Detection mode covers avian subjects.
Pre-Release Capture records frames from the moment you half-press the shutter, up
to a second before you fully press it, so fast action isn’t lost to reaction
time.

Video

  • UHD 4K to 60 fps, Full HD to 120 fps.
  • 10-bit internal recording with Nikon’s N-Log LUT and four RED LUTs.
  • Product Review mode, a self-timer, and a recording limit raised to two hours.

Color control

  • Dedicated Picture Control button with 31 built-in presets, previewed live on the rear screen.
  • Creator Recipes via Nikon Imaging Cloud, plus a one-year subscription to Cloud Picture Controls.

Body and connectivity

  • 3.2″ touchscreen with a 180° flip-under tilt for front-facing shots, and Touch FN for focus and settings.
  • Electronic viewfinder twice as bright as the previous model’s.
  • SnapBridge over Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi for remote shooting and file transfer.
  • USB-C with power delivery, headphone/microphone jack, HDMI, and a hot shoe.
  • EN-EL25a battery with in-camera charging, and a single UHS-I SD card slot.

Included: NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR

A 24-75mm equivalent zoom for everyday shooting. Aspherical and extra-low
dispersion elements reduce aberrations, and Super Integrated Coating limits
ghosting and flare. Vibration Reduction provides 4.5 stops of stabilization, a
stepping motor keeps autofocus quiet, and a programmable control ring handles
aperture, exposure compensation or ISO. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm smooths
out-of-focus areas.

Edward J. ★★★★★

I shoot a lot of indoor events, and the EXPEED 7 processor keeps the burst shots crisp even when the light dips—something my old body just couldn’t handle. The 20.9MP sensor gives me plenty of crop room for tight portraits, and I haven’t missed a focus yet. It’s been a week and I’m still grinning at

Miles R. ★★★★★

The autofocus locks onto my dog mid-sprint so fast I don't even think about it anymore, and the 20.9MP sensor keeps every feather detail crisp in harsh afternoon light. I've been shooting mostly street scenes with the 16-50mm kit lens and the burst rate never chokes, even on raw.

Harper T. ★★★★★

The autofocus is just ridiculously fast thanks to that EXPEED 7 processor, and the 20.9MP sensor captures plenty of detail for my travel shots. I love how compact it is with the 16-50mm lens, making it easy to carry all day.
