The Nikon Zf puts a 24.5MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7
processor inside a retro-styled body with dedicated dials. The back-illuminated
sensor reads out fast and stays clean at raised ISO, and a pixel-shift high
resolution mode combines multiple exposures into a single 96MP image.

Autofocus

Deep-learning subject detection recognizes nine subject types, locking on and
tracking through motion. 3D Tracking handles subjects moving across the frame as
well as toward and away from the camera. Pre-Release Capture records up to 30
JPEGs from a full second before the shutter fires.

Video

  • UHD 4K oversampled from 6K with full pixel readout up to 30p.
  • Full HD up to 120p for slow motion.
  • Internal 10-bit recording in SDR, HLG and N-Log tone modes.

Stabilization

  • Up to 8 stops from the in-body 5-axis sensor-shift system with Z-mount lenses.
  • 3-axis stabilization with adapted F-mount lenses via the optional FTZ Adapter.
  • Focus-point VR, which weights stabilization according to where the active focus point sits.

Body and controls

  • 3.2″ vari-angle touchscreen for playback and live view at awkward angles.
  • Touch Fn — set focus points, pick tracking subjects and change display modes on the screen while your eye is at the viewfinder.
  • Dedicated switch for toggling between color and black-and-white capture.
  • Compatible with the optional MC-N10 Remote Grip and AR-11 Soft Shutter Release.

Included: NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S

A standard zoom for FX-format Z-mount bodies, running from wide-angle to
portrait length at a constant f/4 — noticeably smaller and lighter than an f/2.8
equivalent. The optical design uses one aspherical ED element and three aspherical
elements to control chromatic aberration and distortion, with Nano Crystal and
Super Integrated Coatings reducing flare and ghosting for better contrast and
color rendition in difficult light.

Carter ★★★★★

The mechanical dials make me slow down and actually think about my exposure, which is exactly what I wanted from a retro body. Low-light shots at ISO 3200 come out clean enough that I don't even bother with noise reduction in post.

Joseph ★★★★★

Shot a wedding reception at ISO 6400 and the files came out remarkably clean, which I didn't expect from a body this size. The dedicated dials for shutter and ISO mean I rarely dive into menus anymore.

Lily F. ★★★★★

The retro dials are incredibly satisfying to use, and I’m amazed at how clean the images look even when I push the ISO to 6400. Paired with the 24-70mm f/4, it’s a solid daily carry for walkaround shooting.
