Nikon AF NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 D Autofocus IF Lens

Nikon AF Zoom-NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D IF Lens
Versatile Wide-to-Telephoto Zoom – Internal Focus (IF) Design, D-Type Distance Integration & Full-Frame F-Mount Compatibility

The Nikon AF Zoom-NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D IF is an all-in-one standard-to-telephoto zoom lens engineered for full-frame FX-format, DX-format (providing a 36-180mm equivalent focal range), and 35mm film Nikon F-mount cameras. Built as a practical single-lens walkaround solution, it spans true 24mm wide-angle framing for landscapes, architecture, and interior environments through 120mm medium telephoto reach for portraits, street photography, and travel compression.

The lens utilizes an Internal Focus (IF) mechanism that adjusts focus entirely within the optical barrel, preserving balance and preventing physical length changes during operation. As a D-type optic with a physical manual aperture ring, it transmits subject-to-camera distance information directly to compatible Nikon bodies to ensure accurate Matrix metering and balanced 3D Multi-Sensor / i-TTL flash exposure calculations. Compatible with both modern digital DSLRs (with in-body AF motors) and classic Nikon film cameras, this versatile optic offers broad flexibility in a portable, self-contained zoom package.

CONDITION DIAGNOSTICS & PHYSICAL NOTES

Autofocus Compatibility Notice: Screw-drive autofocus requires a Nikon DSLR equipped with an internal focusing motor (such as D7000-series, D200/D300/D500, D600/D700/D800-series, and single-digit professional bodies). Functions as a manual focus lens on entry-level bodies lacking an AF motor (e.g., D3000-series, D5000-series, D40, D60).

Exterior & Physical Status: PRE-OWNED. The composite and metal barrel, textured zoom and focus grip bands, distance scale window, aperture control ring, and metal F-mount bayonet show light superficial cosmetic surface marks consistent with standard handling.

Mechanical & Optical Status: FULLY FUNCTIONAL. Optical glass elements are clean and free of damage; mechanical screw-drive AF coupling, internal focusing assembly, manual aperture ring with click stops, zoom helicoid, and aperture iris operate properly.

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

24-120mm Wide-to-Telephoto Range: 5x zoom span eliminates frequent lens swaps, covering broad landscapes to isolated portraits in a single barrel.

Internal Focusing (IF) Technology: Maintains consistent overall lens length and front element stability during autofocus for superior handling.

D-Type Distance Information: Relays subject distance metadata to compatible cameras for precision 3D Color Matrix and i-TTL flash metering.

Manual Aperture Control Ring: Offers direct mechanical aperture selection, ensuring full compatibility across vintage film bodies and modern digital DSLRs.

Standard 72mm Filter Thread: Accommodates common screw-in polarizers, ND filters, and protective elements without requiring step-up adapters.
