The Nikon Z8 is a high-speed, professional full-frame mirrorless camera that integrates the flagship capabilities of the Z9 into a compact, lightweight body optimized for gimbal operation, handheld event coverage, and multimedia workflows. Built around a 45.7-megapixel FX-format stacked BSI CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 image processing engine, the Z8 delivers fast sensor readout speeds, low-noise imaging across an ISO range of 64 to 25,600 (expandable to ISO 32 to 102,400), and rapid performance. With an electronic-shutter-only architecture, the camera operates silently, reduces rolling shutter distortion, supports shutter speeds up to 1/32,000 second, and provides high-speed continuous shooting rates of up to 20 fps in RAW, 30 fps in full-frame JPEG, 60 fps in DX crop, and up to 120 fps at 11MP resolution with continuous AF/AE tracking and Pre-Release Capture.

Engineered as a versatile video system, the Z8 records internal 12-bit raw video up to 8.3K at 60p in Nikon’s N-RAW format, 4.1K ProRes RAW HQ, as well as 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes 422 HQ and H.265 (HEVC) files. It supports oversampled 4K UHD recording up to 60p, high-frame-rate 4K slow motion up to 120p, and provides internal recording profiles including N-Log, HLG, and Flat. The 493-point phase-detection autofocus system utilizes AI deep learning technology for intelligent detection and 3D tracking of nine distinct subject types (humans, animals, vehicles, and aircraft), with low-light AF sensitivity down to -9 EV in Starlight mode. Built within a weather-sealed magnesium-alloy and Seerebo carbon-fiber chassis, the body incorporates 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization with Synchro VR (up to 6 stops), a blackout-free 3.69m-dot Real-Live OLED viewfinder (up to 3000 cd/m2 brightness, 120 fps refresh), a 3.2-inch 2.1m-dot 4-axis tilting touchscreen LCD, dual CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II memory card slots, dual dedicated USB-C ports, and full-size HDMI output.
