The Polaroid PZ2001 is a compact 35mm point-and-shoot film camera introduced in 2004, part of Polaroid’s “zoom” series of conventional film cameras aimed at casual photographers who wanted straightforward, automated shooting with some zoom flexibility. It’s designed for everyday snapshot photography rather than manual or advanced control.

Optically, the camera features a 35-70mm power zoom lens (4 elements) with a variable maximum aperture of f/5.6 at the wide end narrowing to f/11 at telephoto. Focus is fixed, covering a range from approximately 5 feet (1.5m) to infinity rather than true autofocus. Exposure is fully automatic and programmed electronically, with shutter speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/250 second, along with a dedicated night portrait mode offering a slower 1/4 second shutter speed for better ambient light capture, selectable via the camera’s power switch.

The PZ2001 uses DX coding to automatically read film speed for ISO 100, 200, and 400 film. A built-in flash includes automatic operation and red-eye reduction, along with a self-timer and a double exposure mode for creative multi-exposure shots. The camera includes a built-in motor for automatic film advance and rewind, simplifying operation so users only need to point and shoot.

Handling includes a small LCD panel for status information, a viewfinder with eyepiece, a film view window on the back cover to confirm film loading, and a 1/4″-20 tripod socket for mounting on a standard tripod. The camera is powered by two AA batteries.

Sofia ★★★★★

Didn't expect much from an as-is camera, but the shutter fires perfectly and the flash still works. The compact body fits in my jacket pocket, and I ran a test roll through it without any light leaks.

Lucy ★★★★★

Never expected an 'as-is' camera to work, but this compact 35mm point-and-shoot is surprisingly solid. It's tiny enough to carry everywhere and the viewfinder is clear, so I've been shooting all weekend without a single misfire.

Robert ★★★★★

Rolled the dice on this untested point-and-shoot and got lucky, the shutter fires cleanly and the flash still pops. It's a compact little 35mm so it actually fits in my jacket pocket. Two rolls in and every frame came out sharp.
