Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II Lens for Sony A-Mount
Ultra-Wide 180° Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Sony Alpha (A-Mount) APS-C DSLRs & SLTs – Ultra-Wide Exaggerated Perspective, 10 Elements in 7 Groups with 1 Hybrid Aspherical Element, Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) Flare Reduction, Smooth Manual Focus & Manual Aperture Control, Removable Petal Lens Hood, Includes Front Cap, Rear Cap & Lens Hood (Excellent Condition / Minor Internal Dust)

The Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II is a specialized ultra-wide manual focus prime lens engineered specifically for Sony Alpha A-mount DSLR and SLT cameras featuring APS-C format sensors (also compatible with full-frame Sony A-mount bodies in crop mode, or easily adapted to Sony E-mount mirrorless bodies using LA-EA series adapters). Delivering an expansive, immersive 180° diagonal field of view, this creative fisheye optic produces exaggerated barrel distortion, curved horizons, and dramatic close-up perspectives that fill the entire APS-C frame with bold, dynamic imagery. It is an essential creative tool for skate and extreme sports cinematography, architectural exploration, tight interior spaces, virtual reality panoramas, and artistic astrophotography.

The optical formula consists of 10 elements arranged in 7 groups, featuring one high-precision hybrid aspherical element to control spherical aberrations, coma, and edge flare while maintaining crisp detail across the visual arc. Individual glass surfaces are treated with Rokinon’s advanced Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) system to suppress ghosting, reflections, and flare when shooting toward direct light sources. Built with a robust metal and composite mechanical chassis, the lens operates fully manually with a smooth, damped manual focusing ring and a tactile, click-stopped manual aperture ring spanning f/3.5 to f/22. The CS II version features a detachable petal-shaped lens hood, allowing users to achieve an unobstructed circular or semi-circular field of view when experimenting on full-frame camera setups.

CONDITION DIAGNOSTICS & PHYSICAL NOTES

Included Components: COMPLETE ULTRA-WIDE FISHEYE LENS UNIT. Supplied with the Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II lens (Sony A-Mount), specialized locking front fisheye lens cap, Sony A-mount rear bayonet dust cap, and original detachable petal lens hood.

Exterior & Physical Status: EXCELLENT CONDITION. The matte black metal barrel, rubberized manual focus grip, ribbed manual aperture ring, removable bayonet hood, and metal Sony Alpha A-mount bayonet show minimal, light signs of handling consistent with careful pre-owned use.

Optical & Mechanical Status: FULLY FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR COSMETIC DUST. The curved front bulbous element and rear glass are clean and free of scratches, haze, or fungus; very light internal dust specs are present inside the optical barrel (tested and verified not to degrade image contrast, resolution, or exposure across any f-stop). The manual focus ring turns smoothly with consistent physical resistance; the manual aperture ring clicks positively through all stops; all mechanical components function strictly as designed.

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

180° Ultra-Wide Fisheye Perspective: Dramatic 180-degree diagonal angle of view creates exaggerated curved horizons, expansive vistas, and dynamic spatial distortion on APS-C sensors.

Hybrid Aspherical Optical Construction: 10 elements in 7 groups with 1 hybrid aspherical element to deliver high contrast, sharp central resolving power, and reduced spherical distortion.

Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC): High-grade multi-layer anti-reflective coatings reduce flare, internal reflections, and ghosting in high-contrast outdoor lighting.

Detachable Petal-Shaped Lens Hood: CS II updated design allows the hood to be removed for full-frame vignetted circle effects or attached for shading and element protection.

Precise Manual Focus & Iris Rings: Tactile manual focus gearing with smooth damping and click-stopped aperture adjustments from f/3.5 to f/22 for repeatable mechanical control.

Close-Up Focusing Ability: Minimum focusing distance of just 11.8 inches (0.3 m) allows dramatic foreground subject isolation with expansive background contexts.

Native Sony Alpha A-Mount Compatibility: Direct native fit for Sony Alpha DSLR/SLT cameras (A77, A68, A58, A57, A65, A99 series) and fully adaptable to Sony E-mount mirrorless bodies via LA-EA adapters.

Stella I. ★★★★★

Finally got this lens to try some astrophotography, and the f/3.5 aperture captures way more stars than I expected for the price. The manual focus ring is smooth and precise, making it easy to nail sharp shots of the night sky.

John J. ★★★★★

The 10 elements in 7 groups really pull in every corner of the room, and the exaggerated perspective makes even my cramped apartment look like a sprawling landscape. Manual focus takes a bit of practice, but the sharpness across the frame is worth the fiddling.

Julian ★★★★★

The 180-degree field of view is exactly what I needed for astrophotography, and the manual focus ring has a smooth, precise feel to it. Even at f/3.5, the sharpness across the frame surprised me for such an ultra-wide lens.
