Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera

The Sony a7 IV is a full-frame mirrorless camera built around a 33-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, striking a balance between high resolution and versatile all-around performance that makes it well suited to photographers and videographers working across portraits, landscapes, events, and hybrid content creation. As the successor to the widely popular a7 III, it brings substantial upgrades in resolution, autofocus, and video capability while retaining the compact, travel-friendly form factor that has made Sony’s a7 series so popular.

Powered by the BIONZ XR image processor, the a7 IV delivers fast overall performance along with a wide native sensitivity range for strong low-light capability and clean, detailed images across varied lighting conditions. Its advanced autofocus system uses 759 phase-detection points covering a large portion of the frame, along with Sony’s proven Real-time Eye AF for humans, animals, and birds, giving photographers reliable subject tracking for both stills and video work. Continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second helps capture fast-moving action and decisive moments with precision.

On the video side, the a7 IV supports 4K recording up to 60p with no pixel binning up to 4K30, along with 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth and S-Log3 profiles for photographers looking for greater flexibility in post-production color grading. In-body 5-axis image stabilization helps smooth handheld footage and stills alike, while a fully articulating 3-inch touchscreen LCD adds compositional flexibility for vlogging, low angles, and video-focused workflows. The high-resolution electronic viewfinder provides a clear, detailed view for precise composition and manual focus confirmation in bright or challenging lighting.

Built with a magnesium-alloy chassis and comprehensive weather-sealing, the a7 IV is designed to hold up to demanding professional and enthusiast use in a range of outdoor conditions. Dual card slots, including one compatible with high-speed CFexpress Type A cards, support extended shooting sessions and simultaneous backup recording, while comprehensive wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enables fast file transfer and remote camera control. The Sony E-mount gives access to one of the most extensive native lens ecosystems in the mirrorless market, spanning Sony’s own G Master and G lens lines as well as extensive third-party support. This combination of high resolution, advanced hybrid autofocus, strong video specifications, and robust build quality has made the a7 IV a versatile choice for photographers and videographers wanting a single camera capable of excelling across a broad range of creative disciplines.
