Designed without an optical low-pass filter, the sensor pairs with an updated BIONZ X processing engine and front-end LSI to capture fine detail, wide 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivities, and low-noise output across a native sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 32000 (expandable from ISO 50 to 102400).

Combining high resolving power with action speed, the a7R III achieves full-resolution burst shooting at up to 10 fps with full continuous AF/AE tracking for up to 76 consecutive frames using either its vibration-damped mechanical shutter or silent electronic shutter. The upgraded Fast Hybrid AF system utilizes 399 focal-plane phase-detection points covering 68% of the image frame alongside 425 contrast-detection areas, providing fast focus acquisition, low-light sensitivity down to -3 EV, and reliable Real-Time Eye AF in both AF-S and AF-C modes. For video capture, it records internal UHD 4K across the full width of the full-frame sensor or via 5K oversampling in Super35 format with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, supported by S-Log2, S-Log3, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), and Full HD high-frame-rate capture up to 120 fps.
