Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 Lens for Nikon Z

The Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 is a fast autofocus wide-angle prime lens designed for Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount mirrorless cameras, offering a versatile wide field of view combined with a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, making it well suited to landscapes, environmental portraits, astrophotography, and low-light shooting. As part of Viltrox’s growing lineup of autofocus lenses for mirrorless systems, it delivers professional-grade optical performance at a notably more accessible price point than comparable first-party options.

The 24mm focal length provides a versatile wide-angle perspective well suited to landscapes, architecture, and environmental photography, capturing expansive scenes while retaining reasonably natural perspective rendering compared to more extreme wide-angle optics. The fast f/1.8 aperture sets this lens apart from many wide-angle options in its class, most of which use slower maximum apertures, giving photographers meaningful low-light capability and the ability to achieve creative background separation even at a wide focal length, characteristics particularly valuable for astrophotography and environmental portraiture.

Autofocus is handled by a STM (stepping motor) system, delivering smooth, quiet focusing performance well suited to both stills and video work, an important feature for videographers who want minimal focus noise during recording. The lens’s optical design incorporates elements aimed at controlling distortion and chromatic aberration, contributing to solid sharpness and contrast across the wide field of view.

Built with a durable all-metal construction and weather-sealed design, this lens is engineered to withstand regular professional and enthusiast use across a variety of shooting conditions. Despite its fast aperture, the lens maintains a manageable size for handheld landscape and everyday wide-angle shooting. The Nikon Z mount ensures native compatibility with Nikon’s full-frame Z-series mirrorless bodies, delivering full autofocus and electronic communication between lens and camera. For photographers seeking an affordable, fast wide-angle prime with professional-grade build quality for landscape, astrophotography, or low-light work, this lens offers strong value within the Nikon Z-mount system.
